The REWRITE project marked a significant milestone with the successful organization of its first annual meeting, which took place in Ghent from October 8-11, 2024. This gathering brought together REWRITE partners to review the project's progress and discuss the next steps in achieving its goals.

REWRITE aims to protect coastal communities by restoring degraded ecosystems, fostering innovation in coastal protection, and enhancing the sustainability of coastal management. By focusing on ecosystem services and nature-based solutions, REWRITE is developing new methods to safeguard coastlines from the impacts of climate change, while ensuring social and economic benefits for coastal regions.

The first day focused on providing an overview of the achievements so far, giving all partners the opportunity to share updates and insights from their respective work packages. Over the course of the second and third days, a series of engaging workshops allowed participants to dive deeper into the core topics of the project, fostering collaboration and detailed discussions across various WPs.

The meeting was further enriched by the participation of the steering committee, who provided valuable feedback on the project's progress to date. Their guidance and recommendations will play an essential role in ensuring the project's continued success.

The REWRITE team is energized and looking forward to implementing the ideas and strategies that emerged from this productive annual meeting.
