Geonardo participated in the REWRITE 3rd Annual Meeting, held in Cádiz, Spain, from 6 to 8 October 2026. The event brought together partners from across the consortium to review project progress, share recent scientific and operational achievements, and discuss priorities for the coming project period.
Over the course of the meeting, consortium members engaged in a wide range of scientific sessions, workshops and collaborative discussions addressing coastal ecosystem restoration, rewilding approaches, environmental monitoring, data management and stakeholder engagement. The Annual Meeting provided an important platform for strengthening cooperation between partners and ensuring alignment across the project's diverse work packages.
As leader of Work Package 5, Geonardo presented an update on communication, dissemination activities carried out across the project. The presentation highlighted progress made in increasing REWRITE's visibility, supporting stakeholder participation, communicating scientific outputs and developing outreach activities aimed at connecting research results with wider audiences.
The meeting also offered valuable opportunities for discussion with partners regarding future communication priorities, impact creation strategies and opportunities for increasing engagement with communities, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders. These exchanges will help guide upcoming dissemination and exploitation activities while ensuring that project results continue to reach the audiences that can benefit most from them.
In addition to contributing to technical and strategic discussions, the Geonardo team facilitated the second round of Rewilding Stories interviews during the meeting. The interviews captured experiences, perspectives and reflections from consortium members, contributing to an evolving collection of stories that showcase the people, ideas and collaborative efforts behind the REWRITE project.
A memorable part of the event was the opening of the SEASCAPES Exhibition at the ECCO Museum. Combining scientific knowledge with artistic interpretation, the exhibition demonstrated REWRITE's commitment to exploring innovative ways of engaging the public with environmental challenges and opportunities. The opening event featured a live performance art component that complemented the exhibition and encouraged reflection on the connections between people, coastal environments and ecological restoration.
The exhibition also included the winning artworks from the Rewilding through Art Competition, highlighting the creativity and diversity of perspectives inspired by rewilding themes. The display underscored the important role of art in communicating research, fostering dialogue and encouraging broader public engagement with environmental issues.
Overall, the REWRITE Annual Meeting was highly productive and inspiring. It allowed partners to celebrate achievements reached so far, address challenges collectively and develop a shared vision for the next phase of the project. Geonardo is proud to contribute to REWRITE's mission and looks forward to continuing collaboration with consortium partners in the months ahead.
