SURPASS

Project Description:

SURPASS is a Horizon Europe-funded project dedicated to pioneering the transition towards Safe, Sustainable, and Recyclable by Design (SSRbD) polymeric materials. The initiative addresses the pressing environmental challenges posed by plastic waste by developing innovative, recyclable polymer solutions for the building, transport, and packaging sectors, which collectively represent 70% of Europe's plastic demand. SURPASS aims to create SSRbD alternatives free from potentially hazardous additives, optimize reprocessing technologies, and develop a comprehensive assessment framework to guide material designers and recyclers throughout the entire lifecycle of plastics.

 

Geonardo's Role:

As a key partner in SURPASS, Geonardo leads the development of the project's digital infrastructure, e-learning platform, and life cycle costing assessment, ensuring the effective adoption of SSRbD principles and sustainable polymer solutions.

 

Key Contributions:

• Life Cycle Costing Assessment: Leading the LCC assessment to evaluate the economic feasibility and sustainability of SSRbD polymeric materials.
• E-Learning Platform Development: Creating an interactive platform to educate stakeholders on SSRbD principles and best practices.
• Digital Infrastructure Development: Leading the design and implementation of the project's digital tools and databases to support sustainable polymer design and recycling.
