BIO-INSPIRE
Project Description:
BIO-INSPIRE strengthens regional bioeconomy clusters in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) to unlock
their full potential. The project connects local businesses, research institutions, and stakeholders,
to advance resilient ecosystems capable of driving regional economic growth. All this via collaborative
governance, capacity building, and international networking. BIO-INSPIRE takes on systemic bottlenecks and
empowers underrepresented regions in the EU’s widening countries.
The project engages regional bioeconomy clusters in seven countries including Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, and Poland and draws on the expertise of research institutions and clusters from Sweden and the Netherlands. A key outcome of the project is the development of a long-term Governance Model framework to support sustainable collaboration and ensure that local clusters remain active drivers of the bio-based economy well beyond the project’s lifetime.
Geonardo’s Role:
Geonardo leads the mobilization of regional clusters to stimulate synergies and enhance bio-based innovation capacity in Hungary and in the CEE region and beyond. Geonardo aligns shared goals and collaboration to drive joint events such as site visits, and workshops that maximize synergies and spread best practices. Geonardo develops a free to access Knowledge Exchange Platform equipped with digital tools to extend the project’s results to as wide as possible. Geonardo prepares evaluation reports, assesses technology providers, and develops an exploitation strategy to ensure BIO-INSPIRE creates a lasting impact. Through these efforts, Geonardo actively engages SMEs, research organizations, and local authorities to build a collaborative and innovative regional bioeconomy ecosystem.
