The European Bioeconomy University Alliance Scientific Forum is organised by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) on 6-8 September 2023, in Vienna.
The Forum is bringing together scientists, experts, policymakers, industry representatives, youth and other stakeholders from across Europe to share experiences, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities for advancing the bioeconomy transformation and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The high-level opening session focused on the urgent need for a stronger awareness for reaching a sustainable bioeconomy. The thematic sessions centered on the understanding of the term “bioeconomy” results to be multifaceted and complex.
The current bioeconomy discourse shows a variety of visions, values and narratives. There is a need for identifying synergies and defining strategies for bringing together the different bioeconomy perspectives.
The social dimension of the bioeconomy was presented, in connection to the challenges and opportunities. Participants showcased ideas that will allow the transformation to gain momentum, and explained how an actionable transition pathway might look.
On 7 September 2023, GEONARDO, the CEE2ACT coordinator, joined a panel on research funding opportunities and tips for writing a research proposal, where they talked about the journey of writing the CEE2ACT proposal and forming its consortium.
