The New European Bauhaus is around the corner!

Join our project OTTER to the festival for reimagining Europe around beauty, sustainability, and inclusiveness.

What is the New European Bauhaus?

beautiful | sustainable | together

The New European Bauhaus is a creative and interdisciplinary initiative that connects the European Green Deal to our living spaces and experiences.

The New European Bauhaus initiative calls on all of us to imagine and build together a sustainable and inclusive future that is beautiful for our eyes, minds, and souls. Beautiful are the places, practices, and experiences that are:

  • Enriching, inspired by art and culture, responding to needs beyond functionality.
  • Sustainable, in harmony with nature, the environment, and our planet.
  • Inclusive, encouraging a dialogue across cultures, disciplines, genders and ages.

"If the European Green Deal has a soul, then it is the New European Bauhaus which has led to an explosion of creativity across our Union".

Ursula Von der Leyen, President of the European Commission

What is the Festival?

The Festival brings together people from all walks of life to debate and shape our future. It is a great opportunity to network, exchange and celebrate – from science to art, from design to politics, from architecture to technology. The Festival brings the European Green Deal at the heart of our daily lives.

When and where?

The core activities of the Festival will take place in Brussels, with side events across the EU and beyond. Explore them all on the Festival’s dedicated event platform.

What are the different elements of the Festival?

The Festival is designed around four main pillars:

The Fair: to exhibit and showcase projects and prototypes reflecting and supporting the values of the New European Bauhaus. It consists of exhibitions to showcase current projects and products that embody the values and principles of the New European Bauhaus. The Fair will not only offer space for showcasing all these innovative examples. It will also offer opportunities to meet, interact and exchange ideas, bringing together different actors from young artists to entrepreneurs, innovators to teachers, architects, students and inventors.
The Fair is organised in both live and online formats with projects from all around the world.

OTTER will take part of this fair and be in 4 different spots of the city talking to people! If you are in Brussels, go pay us a visit!

The Fest: a moment of celebration bringing together culture, art and conviviality celebrating, freedom of expression with radical, innovative, disruptive ideas and visions. It consists of a cultural programme with performances organised at the main venues of the Festival and across Brussels, alongside opportunities to meet, interact and exchange ideas.
The Fest also offers Satellite events, which are initiatives organised independently in Belgium and other EU Member States.

The Forum: to exchange views and debate topics relating the New European Bauhaus:
sustainability, from climate goals, to circularity, zero pollution, and biodiversity
aesthetics, quality of experience and style, beyond functionality
inclusion, from valuing diversity, to securing accessibility and affordability.

The forum will follow the two basic principles of the New European Bauhaus: transdisciplinary and participation. With a mix of policy discussions and innovative participatory formats, everyone can join the debate. The Forum is organised in both live and online formats with speakers from all around the world.

Attendance to the Forum is free of charge but entries for the onsite event are available in limited numbers, on a first come first serve basis. Not sure you’ll make it to Brussels to attend the Forum? We got you covered! At registration, you’ll be able to choose between onsite and online attendance.

Side events: events and initiatives organised independently in Brussels and beyond (the EU and the world) between 9 and 12 June 2022, with core activities in line with the New European Bauhaus values.
