BIOMIMIC project was presented at the ERAMIN II success stories session at the Raw Material Week in Brussels on November 18, 2019.

RISE (Project coordinator) explained how BIOMIMIC has created water recovery and waste reduction values that creates economic drivers for recovering metals from complex waste and the impact of potential innovations on the European metal supply were also presented. It was explained that BIOMIMIC applies novel reactor design to avoid inhibition and increase rate of the sulphate reduction bioprocess and uses the generated hydrogen sulfide to selectively precipitate metals, increase the value of the products. The next step is to scale up the process to TRL (Technology readiness level) 5 and to perform the technoeconomic and lifecycle assessment. Geonardo takes part in BIOMIMIC project assisting in communication and dissemination activities.
