It was a pleasure to meet again our partners in the COLLECTiEF project for the 5th General Assembly, the second face-to-face meeting since the launch of the project two years ago. The meeting was organised by our French partner CSTB at G2Elab, a research laboratory from the University of Grenoble where researchers have been implementing and testing the COLLECTiEF algorithms and systems as a small-scale pilot.
The two-day meeting was the perfect setting to take stock of the progress and milestones achieved so far and outline the action plan for the next months. Each Work Package leader presented the activities performed and the expected future outcomes, to put together a strong and clear roadmap to ensure the successful rollout of the large-scale demonstration and evaluation of the COLLECTiEF system in all our pilot sites.
As leader of the communication and dissemination activities, Geonardo also organised a design thinking workshop dedicated to developing strategies to enhance building users’ engagement in our pilot sites. By leveraging the collective expertise and creativity of the consortium members, we kickstarted very active discussions and put forward actionable ideas on how to better motivate and communicate with homeowners and tenants.
User engagement is indeed a key activity in the project, to guarantee that the COLLECTiEF solution will not only smart up different types of buildings and their legacy equipment on a large scale to help us save energy but also prioritise individual preferences regarding thermal comfort. Tenants and occupants of the apartments, classrooms, offices and rooms as part of the piloting phase are in fact asked to fill out a Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) questionnaire a couple of times per week to give us feedback on their status and comfort levels and help the researchers and engineers better calibrate the algorithms and models. You can learn more about these activities here.
COLLECTiEF implements and tests an interoperable and scalable energy management system based on collective intelligence. Learn more at collectief-project.eu and keep up to date with the project on Twitter and LinkedIn!
